Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much.
Get ready because for today you and your team have to think of an idea to work with. Your objective is that you have to choose an idea for a product that could tackle a problem due to which these goals were created. Think about what kind of problem your product could solve, who it would benefit, and how it could make a positive impact on a global scale.

What is Dev Hacks?

Dev Hacks is Technival’s Hackathon event which is happening for the first time ever in Kirori Mal college, which is amongst the top 10 colleges in DU.

Fun fact: TECHNIVAL is being held offline for the first time in 3 years but Dev Hacks is being held online so as people have the choice to work from the comfort of their home as well

Why should we participate?

Well particularly there are 3 reasons on why you should participate in Dev Hacks

  • Dev Hacks is an event where participants will have something to gain out at the end. They will learn something new and would carry it forward with them.

  • Our event is going to be huge and winning it will mean even bigger so it will be something you will be able to add in your list of experiences or also on LinkedIn

  • You will also have a chance to network with your fellow peers and with the core team of our society organizing the event.

How will the projects be judged?

  • Originality: Participants will be judged on how original yet fresh, something which is out of the box yet feasible. Plagiarism shall not be tolerated and would lead to immediate disqualification.

  • Social Impact: Extra Brownie points shall be awarded if your project is helping solve a large scale world issue while being possible to implement and being economically and technologically feasible.

  • Technicalities: Technical expertise will be a significant factor in evaluating your project. Did you incorporate advanced techniques such as MLOps, integrating Node.js with Python, or utilizing Docker for deployment purposes? Your project's technical proficiency will be considered in the assessment.

  • Market readiness: While it may be difficult to create a market-ready project within the timeframe of a hackathon, extra points may be awarded for projects that are close to being fully deployed and usable. If you have created a website, have you deployed it? If you have built an Android application, have you included the release APK file on GitHub?

  • Experience: Finally, regardless of your level of experience, what did you learn during the hackathon? Did you push yourself to try new things and expand your skills? Or did you create something you were already familiar with? Learning is highly valued, and it is important for all participants to feel that they have gained something from the experience.

Guidelines

  • Copying code from the internet is common practice, but it is important to give credit where credit is due. This means properly attributing any code that was copied in the README file of your project. It is not necessary to attribute documentation, but if you are using logic from a StackOverflow answer or other source, you should give credit to the original author.

  • It is crucial to maintain a realistic git commit history. We will be reviewing your commit history to ensure that you are using ethical development practices. If you commit all of your code at once, this is suspicious and may result in disqualification. However, if you have a history of many commits with clear development progression, this is a good sign that you are following proper procedures.

  • Your project should include a README.md file that explains the various aspects of your project.

  • In order to be considered for the hackathon, your project must be open-sourced on GitHub.

  • To submit your project, you must use Devfolio as your submission platform.
